Rachel Van

Employment Litigation Attorney

Rachel first gained employment litigation experience as a legal assistant before attending law school. During law school, Rachel worked for various civil litigation firms, including firms representing employees in employment litigation. Upon being admitted to the Bar, Rachel worked for a firm representing minors and their families in cases against pharmaceutical companies. Knowing, from her prior experience, that she wanted to practice employment litigation, Rachel sought and obtained a position with Barritt Smith Miner LLP. She now looks forward to a career representing clients in discrimination, wrongful termination, retaliation, harassment, and unpaid wage actions.

Civil Litigation Experience

Rachel has drafted complaints, prepared discovery requests and responses, prepared motions, researched legal issues, prepared correspondence on various legal and discovery issues, and engaged in other aspects of civil litigation.

Academic Background

Rachel obtained her law degree from Whittier Law School, where she served as Chief Justice of the Moot Court Honors Board and represented her school as an oralist and brief-writer in three competitions.

Rachel received her B.A. cum laude in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine.

Interest in the Law Since Sixth Grade

Rachel first became interested in the law in sixth grade when she wrote a report on United States Supreme Court Justice, Sandra Day O’Connor (Ret.).


Rachel speaks Vietnamese. In her free time, she enjoys making violin/guitar covers with her best friend. She also enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and their dog, a spunky Shih Tzu named Marley.
